Lauren Fitzgerald graduated from the University of Georgia (UGA) last fall with a bachelor’s degree in advertising. She will participate in c21’s summer internship program and contribute as a full-time c21 team member through August 2026 to further her early career experience.

Lauren was deeply involved in the Athens community throughout her time at UGA, contributing to several student media organizations. She served as the creative services manager for The Red & Black Publishing Co., as the digital media specialist for Talking Dog Agency and as a member of the WUOG 90.5 FM publications committee.

Before joining c21, Lauren completed an internship with Get Engaged Media, where she developed community management skills and wrote social media copy for multiple brands. She also served as a Marketing Operations intern at The Coca-Cola Company, gaining a valuable background in user experience, user interface design and chatbot configuration. Additionally, Lauren spent a summer living in Seoul, South Korea during her marketing internship with Gen.G Esports.

Outside of work, Lauren spends time coordinating photoshoots and managing her photography Instagram account, blending her creative interests with her passion for social media marketing.

Salinas recently graduated summa cum laude from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in literature, media and communication (LMC), with a concentration in media and communication. During her time at Georgia Tech, she wrote for the school newspaper, The Technique, starting as a contributing writer and moving to a staff writer position before eventually serving as the assistant editor of the publication’s entertainment section. Through the paper, she gained experience in the field of public relations by attending media events such as advanced film screenings and red-carpet events, photographing musicians and performers and conducting interviews with actors and directors.

Prior to joining the c21 team, Salinas participated in two internship programs during the institution’s summer breaks.

In 2023, she broke ground as the first communications intern of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta (FRBA)’s business technology and security division. During her internship, she drafted articles for internal communications, assisted with creating slide decks for department-wide presentations and designed graphics for cybersecurity awareness.

The following summer, she worked as a marketing intern at The Masquerade, a live music venue in Underground Atlanta. During this time, she tracked the venue’s engagement across multiple social media platforms, compiled information on upcoming acts and wrote captivating articles for the venue’s blog. She also conceptualized, filmed, edited and posted compelling content on various social media platforms.

Salinas continues to freelance as a graphic designer and writes as a contributor for several local and global publications, including Georgia Entertainment and The Concert Chronicles.

Garde joined c21^® as an intern in September 2023 before transitioning to a full-time role in February 2024. Since then, she was quickly promoted and has managed a diverse portfolio of clients, including Much of her work has focused on advancing the goals of her clients through communications support and measurable results.

As a senior account manager, Garde manages a wide range of marketing and communications efforts, including email and social media marketing, media relations, press release development, event planning, ad design and creating graphics, reels and more for clients. In her new role, she will expand her leadership responsibilities and contribute to management of c21’s long-standing internship program.

Justice is a senior marketing major at Georgia State University (GSU) and is on track to graduate in December 2025. To gain more education and professional experience, she will participate in c21’s summer internship program through August. Throughout her time at GSU, she has excelled in her coursework, become active on campus and formed meaningful connections with professionals, which sparked her love for marketing, advertising and public relations. She is active member in GSU’s chapter of the American Marketing Association, where she learns more about the industry and meets other students with similar interests.

Before joining c21, Justice completed an internship with The King of Content as a social media marketer, where she improved her graphic design and video editing skills while learning brand and project management. She also worked for The Smith Agency as a wholesale representative and sales associate, gaining valuable experience in communication, sales and leadership. This role allowed her to combine her passion for fashion with her love for marketing in a fast-paced environment.

Outside of work, Justice explores her appetite for content creation and video editing through her own social media platforms. She loves to travel and recently completed a study abroad course in Europe where she learned about international business. She hopes to tie in her passion for travel with content creation and video editing in the future.

Canyon Nguyen is a recent graduate of Georgia State University (GSU) with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a concentration in Public Relations and will be participating in c21’s 2025 internship program through May. During his time at GSU, Nguyen excelled in his coursework, taking part in various social media and public relations projects. Through these endeavors, he was introduced to the world of public relations and marketing by participating in various mock campaigns, which sparked his interest in the industry as a career path. He also minored in the Korean language, studying it for four years, which made him proficient in three languages (English, Korean and Vietnamese). He hopes to use his language skills to travel to South Korea in the future.

Before joining c21, Nguyen completed two communications internships. In October 2024, he served as a communications intern for Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE), where he developed engaging digital content for social media and email marketing channels, along with valuable hands-on experience with website creation and copy editing.

During his fall semester at GSU, he served as remote social media intern at Glitter Magazine, a female-owned national lifestyle magazine. During his time at the magazine, he took part in social media content curation and scheduling where he learned how to select photos that were aligned with the company’s aesthetic while also keeping posts timely.

ATLANTA – May 16, 2024 – communications 21^® (c21^®), a full-service digital marketing and public relations agency, has added Carter Brown as a director and Shayla Strange as a senior account manager.

Brown returns to c21 as a director, rejoining the company where he initially started in the summer of 2017. He began his journey with c21 as a volunteer coordinator for the Atlanta Jazz Festival and later interned with the firm in the summer of 2018. After graduating from Auburn University that fall, he started a full-time position as an account manager and quicky advanced to senior account manager. For the past three years, he served as the director of digital marketing at a local sports performance company where he led the company’s social media, digital and brand marketing strategies, as well as copywriting.

His return to c21 is a testament to his dedication and growth within the company. In his new role, Brown will continue to deliver exceptional digital marketing strategies and social media tactics to his clients, as well as provide support in media relations, event production, website management and more. He will also help to oversee the team’s account managers and intern program, contribute to recruitment efforts and foster the acquisition of new business. Brown holds several industry certifications, including Google Ads Search and Google Analytics 4.

Additionally, Brown volunteers as the social media coordinator for Golf for the Kids, a local nonprofit organization benefiting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

With a passion for marketing, Shayla Strange brings a wealth of expertise in event planning, social media marketing and compelling copywriting. In her new role as senior account manager at c21, her responsibilities are diverse. She will develop and implement communications plans, social media strategies, email marketing initiatives, handle media relations and promotion development, and coordinate events.

Strange’s professional journey began as a radio personality with Cox Media Group on POWER 100.1 FM, concurrently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication as well as a minor in communications at the University of Georgia. She then transitioned into business development in Atlanta post-graduation. Amid the challenges of COVID-19, she pursued a master’s degree in communications and a certificate in strategic communication management from Purdue University.

Strange also serves as chief operating officer of the Led A Better Way nonprofit, where she plays a pivotal role in the organization’s operations, including supporting CEO Jonathan Ledbetter’s initiatives, overseeing day-to-day activities and contributing to strategic decision-making. Their collaborative efforts were recently recognized through Ledbetter’s nomination for the prestigious Walter Payton Man of the Year award in 2024, culminating in a memorable award ceremony in Las Vegas during Super Bowl weekend. Before joining c21, Meghan began her career as a project manager for one of Atlanta’s top digital marketing agencies. Danielle Impara joins the c21 team as its spring intern after graduating from University of Georgia in May 2020 and pursuing a Master of Science in Marketing, Management and Communications from the Toulouse Business School in Toulouse, France. Impara has experience in event coordination, social media campaigns, branding efforts and digital marketing strategies.

Brown joined c21 full-time in March 2019 after completing a summer internship with the company in August 2018. He manages clients in a variety of industries, including real estate, community improvement and nonprofit such as Avison Young, Metro South Community Improvement District and Partnership Against Domestic Violence.
