Originally from Kansas, Tara has lived in the metro Atlanta area for most of her life and is excited to start her post-graduate life in her adopted home! Tara graduated from Agnes Scott College in December 2021 (a semester early!) with a major in psychology, a minor in business management and a concentration in data science.

Despite spending a third of her undergraduate career on Zoom, Tara made time outside her studies to serve as president of ASCEND, Agnes Scott’s queer student collective, where she gained a passion for creative event planning and responsive communication for diverse communities. She also led Agnes Scott’s flagship IMPACT program for developing student leaders into effective and conscientious community organizers, studied Spanish and Mandarin Chinese and conducted mentored research on racial socialization as well as the impact of ghosting in the hiring process. One of her most memorable college experiences was visiting Peru as part of a semester-long course on the connections between coffee farming, climate change and contemporary indigenous and women’s issues in Peruvian society.

Before her senior year, Tara held a summer internship with the development and community engagement team at The Global Village Project, a Decatur-based nonprofit middle school for refugee girls who have experienced interrupted education. In this role, she was responsible for generating and posting social media content and promotional materials for GVP’s annual summer fundraising campaign. This position was her introduction to professional marketing and communications work, and she fell in love with the fast paced, diverse work and opportunities to merge her creative skills with her affinity for research and data.

After graduating college, Tara wanted to continue nurturing her newfound interest in marketing and communications. She was drawn to c21 because of its variety of services offered and the team’s diversity of professional experience and interests. She hopes to use this experience to learn as much about marketing and media relations as possible and sharpen her skills in writing, graphic design, video production and event planning.

Outside of work, you can find Tara thrift shopping, indoor gardening, trying out recipes from TikTok and practicing her foreign language skills. She also loves reading whodunits, exercising and exploring Atlanta.
