Client Spotlight: Bob and Chris Whitley

Bob and Chris WhitleyThe Bob and Chris Whitley team has an eye for design.  The father-son duo has garnered numerous accolades for golf course and clubhouse design, and has worked on top-notch projects including The Bear’s Club in Palm Beach County, Fla., the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club and Spa in Jupiter, Fla. and the Piedmont Driving Club in Atlanta.  Their most recent venture is Toccoa, Ga.’s Currahee Club, a nationally acclaimed, back-to-basics golf community where blackberries are still a fruit.  The Whitleys are currently celebrating two career accomplishments - the opening of Currahee Club’s stunning mountaintop golf clubhouse (the social hub of the community) and the recently unveiled Coneflower Cottages, designed by renowned architect Keith Summerour.

Bob Whitley has achieved national prominence in the real estate industry through his ingenuity and innovation.  Spanning a career of more than 35 years, Bob’s communities, including The Bear’s Club in Palm Beach, Fla. and Colleton River Plantation near Hilton Head, S.C., have earned such accolades as “Best Private Clubhouse in America” from Crittenden Golf Magazine, “Best New Private Course in America” from Golf Digest Magazine and “Best Golf Communities in America” from Forbes Magazine.  In addition, many golf courses with which he’s been involved, including Currahee Club, have been ranked in the Top 100 Golf Courses in the United States.

Chris Whitley’s creative talents complement those of his father, and have been honed during Chris’s 20 years in the real estate industry.  His real estate development expertise includes the operational activities of accounting, permitting and project management, as well as land planning and concept design.  An adventurer at heart, Chris is a graduate of Outward Bound schools in Colorado, North Carolina and New Zealand, and started a non-profit organization to send underprivileged children to share the same experiences.

The Whitleys strive to create family-focused communities that are harmonious with nature and retain the land’s integrity.  This philosophy is communicated through c21’s work for Currahee Club, which has resulted in high-profile local and regional media coverage.
