Insights: The Buzz Around the c21 Office
Cheers of victory have been erupting around c21 this summer, and it’s not just because an office full of sports fans won an NCAA Football account.
That’s right. NCAA Football has enlisted c21 to manage media relations and implement social media efforts to promote the organization’s Youth Initiatives Program. Established in New Orleans in 2007 after Hurricane Katrina, the program is aimed at promoting higher education and college football among youth ages seven to 14 through youth clinics and a grant program. NCAA Football has expanded the program for 2008, holding additional clinics in Atlanta and Albuquerque. Carol Rich and Ruth Mitcham – die hard football fans and c21 team members – jetted off to New Orleans in July for this year's first NCAA Football Youth Day.
In addition to media relations, c21 will recommend a variety of social media initiatives to foster an interactive program, and increase its visibility at the Bowl Championship Series game in Miami on January 8, 2009.
What else is there to cheer about? HHHunt Homes, one of the largest and fastest growing Virginia homebuilders, enlisted c21 to increase its online presence through link building and pay-per-click campaigns for its communities. Since launching a Google pay-per-click campaign for HHHunt Homes’ Richmond communities on May 30, there have been more than 2,000 clicks to the HHHunt Homes Web site, with visitors spending more than four minutes on the site. Additionally, 24 percent of HHHunt Homes’ Web site traffic comes from the Google pay-per-click campaign.
Go Green! That’s something everyone is cheering for these days. Leading the way is c21’s new green practices division – c21e – that’s “e” for environment. The foundation of c21e is that “going green” is not just popular, it’s essential. c21e can help our clients position, leverage and promote their own eco-friendly practices and services.
The Housing Group was one of our first clients to benefit from c21e. c21 worked to launch The Housing Group’s Smart Living – its green building process. We overhauled The Housing Group’s Web site to reflect the company’s green philosophy and incorporated “green” keywords into its pay-per-click advertising campaign.
The c21e philosophy isn’t just for clients, but for c21 as well. This summer, c21 implemented a Work From Home program for its team members in order to reduce emissions and energy expended during a commute to and from the office. Each day of the workweek, a team member worked remotely from home. We used conference calls, e-mail and instant messaging to remain accessible and keep in contact throughout the day.
However, even before “green” was mainstream, c21 helped clients:
- Reduce their carbon footprints by converting to e-newsletters
- Promote existing eco-friendly initiatives both internally and externally
- Evaluate what “green” activities may be “media worthy” or simply expected
- Launch products that are better for the environment
