c21 Garners Coverage of Zero Waste Zone on CNN
In c21's Winter 2009 communicator, you read about c21e, our environmentally-focused practice area that helps clients highlight and capitalize on their green initiatives. You also learned about Atlanta's Zero Waste Zone, the first program of its kind in the Southeast. Participants in the Zero Waste Zone - starting with hospitality providers and restaurants in the downtown convention district - pledge to recycle, reuse spent grease for the local production of biofuel, and compost or donate food residuals to drastically decrease the amount of waste going to landfills.
c21 promoted the program on behalf of Atlanta Recycles and the Green Foodservice Alliance through media relations initiatives. Shortly after distributing the last communicator issue, we secured interest from CNN and facilitated the filming of a segment that ran on the leading cable news network in April - click here to check out the video. The segment ran on TV and on CNN.com in the week leading up to Earth Day, during which the network featured "green" related news stories. Additionally, the 40 online placements we originally reported have grown to more than 60, totaling close to 32 million audience impressions. The Green Foodservice Alliance also gave props to c21 for the firm's work on the project in their e-newsletter.
The coverage helps to further establish Atlanta as a role model for implementing strategies to protect the environment. Read more about c21e and find case studies highlighting other "green" projects we've completed. |
